Feed Grade Bile Acid  Powder

Feed-grade bile acids are a novel feed additive whose core function is to serve as exogenous bile acids, compensating for insufficient endogenous bile acid secretion in animals (especially young or high-performance animals), thereby promoting fat digestion and absorption, improving production performance, and also regulating metabolism and immunity.

It is a product produced through China’s original technology and was approved by the Ministry of Agriculture as a new feed additive in 2014. As the industry has matured, China has issued a dedicated national standard to regulate it:

Product standard: GB 7300.1301-2025 Feed additives — Part 13: Others — Bile acids. This standard specifies that the product is made from pig bile paste (after bilirubin extraction) as raw material, through processes such as saponification, decolorization, acidification, purification, and drying.
Core components and specifications: The standard requires total bile acids (the sum of hyocholic acid, hyodeoxycholic acid, and chenodeoxycholic acid) ≥ 95.0%, of which hyodeoxycholic acid and hyocholic acid combined ≥ 78.0%, and chenodeoxycholic acid ≥ 17.0%. Appearance: white or off-white powder with a slight fishy odor.

Main Application Value

In livestock, poultry, and aquaculture, bile acids are added mainly for the following purposes:
Promoting oil utilization: Helping emulsify fats and improving the digestion and utilization of oils in feed, with particularly obvious effects in young animals or high-fat diets.
Protecting liver and intestinal health: Alleviating the liver metabolic pressure that may result from high production loads and helping maintain intestinal barrier function.
Improving production performance: Indirectly improving animal growth rate or feed conversion ratio by enhancing nutrient absorption efficiency.
